Lookbook: Brooks Brothers on Monument Avenue

When I spotted this beautiful plaid sheath in autumn colors from Brooks Brothers, I just knew I had to have it.

I had been planning an autumn-themed photo shoot with Hunter Henkel on Richmond’s historic Monument Avenue for our Virginia road trip, and the colors were the absolute ideal for it.

So how did it work out for its intended purpose? Well, let’s see….

The dress’s orange accents? Not quite the right shade to match the beloved pumpkin-spice-colored ruffle socks I selected to layer over my brown tights, but they did the trick.

The curls? Uncooperative. Curly hair, don’t care.

The dress itself? Well, it arrived one week before we left and needed to be taken in a bit more. (I ordered a size too big because it was the very last one!) Plus, I completely forgot to bring a belt to deal with that issue.

However, I still really love it. And Hunter’s pictures came out great regardless. I couldn’t have been happier with what we got!

If you haven’t been, check out the area around the Branch Museum for that old, moody autumnal feel. And be sure to stroll down the Avenue to see the incredible architecture in the vicinity!
