A few years ago, I made my Autumn Carols playlist. This year, I got to thinking about just how many songs there are about summer.
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know summer is my very least favorite season. But there are plenty of great songs about it–way more than there are about autumn, in fact, from what I’ve found. (That might be because I was a little less particular and more lazy with this one–it is summer, after all–and didn’t follow quite the strict standards I did with my autumn list.) And I suppose even summer deserves its own soundtrack.
Here’s what I’ve been listening to to make these brutal days a little more tolerable.
I had more fun making this list than I expected to. But once I started digging through oldies, classic rock, country, movie soundtracks, and beach music, I realized there is so much good stuff that’s been written about this season. So whether you love summer or are like me and only endure it until autumn arrives, hopefully you can find a few new favorites here.
I guess next year I’m going to have to make one of these for spring!
